History

The two-wheeled horse-drawn carriage, full of leather trunks with stamps of Santos, Barcellona and Genova customs houses stopped at the black gate. From there you can almost see the whole hill: the rural home on the top and all the olive trees.

Peppino knows it well; this is why he has decided to take his wife Iria and his son José Alexandre, his Brazilian family to Italy. He put the little Zezito on his back and pointing to the farmhouse he says in _Italian “Guarda, Zé” then goes on in Portuguese “Ista è a fazenda”.

That was the farmhouse. It was July 1929. Twenty-two days through open sea, and before that seven days by train, from Curitiba to Palombara, only to introduce his son José (Zezito, Zighito, Zè, what kind of name is that, Peppino?) to his father. That on the top was the farmhouse with the annexed oil mill, both belonging to the Colleveneziano estate, the farm that has been producing, fore half a century, extra-virgin olive oil from the leccino, carboncella, saviana plants, to be sold all over Rome.

From that day on the farm became for everyone “a fazenda”.
